Pandora's Box

What was once hidden, is not hidden anymore
The beauty that can’t be revealed, can be seen in the decor
Decorated in black and dressed in endless time
If I unveiled what shouldn’t be touched, would you still be mine?
Or is it the city you belong to?
Fortified in bronze, an impregnable defence
Infused with London’s nightscape, where the bright lights aren’t as intense
You stroll through the night, with such elegance
Armour piercing eyes, you see past every false pretence.
But little did they know the truth behind each stride,
"Don't open the box" they said but I wanted to see inside
If curiosity was what killed the feline, then I wonder what caused the death of pride?
Because if you explore hidden treasures one cannot be surprised at what you see inside.
Like an evening tide, you used to glide across estates gracefully,
With a nonchalant attitude and without a care of the toil that comes in the day,
But now as her secrets unfold and the concealed truth was told maybe that’s the reason why London’s sky is grey.
And maybe when it rains it's the cry for the innocence the city once possessed,
Maybe it's the reason many people refuse to smile and love only out of their best interest.
But now it's far too late to retrieve the essence that escaped out of that chest,
Because I opened the box belonging to the girl in the black dress.
